Spreading Joy This Giving Tuesday

This holiday season many of us may be feeling anxious about what celebrations will look like going forward. Will I be able to see my loved ones? Can I afford the gifts my kids have been begging me for every day? How can I find ways to celebrate in the face of so much uncertainty?

During times like these, it can be hard to find any balance at all. That’s why participating in Giving Tuesday is so important this year.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Held on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is an international day of philanthropic giving.  On Giving Tuesday, which takes place this year on December 1st , nonprofits all over the world—including CHRIS 180—call on our community to kick off the holiday season with a day of generosity and fundraising to support the causes we believe in most.

This year, many of us may not be able to see friends or family in person for the holidays. And that feeling of isolation can be even worse for the clients CHRIS 180 serves, from youth and families who are experiencing homelessness, couples needing counseling to get through hard times, to children in foster homes. But during tough times, we can still do something that makes a difference.  We can find comfort in community and in reaching out to support others, even from a distance.

Why Give?

The fact of the matter is, giving feels good. While the world may feel out of our control, we can control our own actions. Instead of feeling helpless, we can care for each other and for our most vulnerable neighbors. And that is powerful, especially now.

With the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, our community needs us more now than ever. If you are able, please consider participating in CHRIS 180’s Giving Tuesday campaign to spread generosity—and holiday joy—to the children, adults and families we serve. A gift of any size makes a difference and every gift you make to our Giving Tuesday campaign by midnight on December 1 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000!  That means you’ll make twice the difference.

How Do I Give?

Not sure how you want to get involved? Here are a few ways you can participate in CHRIS 180’s Giving Tuesday campaign this year:

Donate: Did you know that $25 can provide a new set of holiday pajamas for a child in our foster homes, $50 can provide a night of housing for a youth experiencing homelessness and $100 can provide a new coat, gloves, hat and scarf for a young person transitioning out of homelessness?

Start a Fundraiser: Sign up to start your own online peer-to-peer fundraiser as part of CHRIS 180’s Giving Tuesday campaign. Set your own fundraising goal and share with friends and family to raise funds and make a big impact for our community!

Share: Spread the word about CHRIS 180’s Giving Tuesday campaign! Share via social media, email or word of mouth. If you connect with loved ones on Thanksgiving, whether virtually or in person, consider telling them about CHRIS 180’s work and how they can make a difference by making a gift.

No matter how you choose to celebrate Giving Tuesday and the holiday season, we are grateful for your generous hearts and grateful that you care for our clients. This work is only possible thanks to friends like you.
