Building Brighter Futures: CHRIS 180’s Reentry Program

At CHRIS 180, we believe that successful reentry into the community begins long before an individual’s release from jail.

In partnership with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, our Reentry program works with individuals to identify problems and find solutions with personalized plans to increase their success upon returning home.

The program provides a supportive environment where men ages 18-50 can access our counseling services and get the tools they need to go home and live productive, crime-free lives.

Through the program, we provide counseling and links to community resources to help smooth the transition back into society and reduce the likelihood of recidivism. While incarcerated, program participants have access to therapists and care coordinators who help them complete a series of recidivism reduction courses that include life skills training, substance abuse classes and more.

“Everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild their lives after making mistakes. Investing in second chances isn’t just about giving individuals a fresh start; it’s about investing in the strength and resilience of our communities. By providing support and resources to those reentering society after incarceration, we reduce recidivism and foster a sense of hope, dignity and belonging,” added CHRIS 180 Case Manager Lateesha Collins, BS.

After release, our team continues to provide wraparound support to participants. From transportation support to case management, ongoing counseling, housing and employment assistance and more, we are committed to doing whatever it takes for them to have a successful reentry.

Program participant Elijah shared, “I heard about the program and saw how CHRIS 180 was able to help other people get back on their feet and find work to support their families. I wanted to change my lifestyle and learn how to make positive decisions instead of doing the wrong things.”

The 20-year-old credits the program with helping him reduce his one-year sentence to six months. He also shared that he learned to control his anger, which has changed how he approaches difficult situations.

“CHRIS 180 helped me out a lot, and it’s nice to know they have resources to help families with food, clothing, shelter and finding a job,” said Elijah.

Through our Reentry program, we are not just offering a second chance; we are creating pathways to a brighter future for individuals, their families and the community. Our goal is to facilitate positive changes in the lives of those who have been involved with the criminal justice system.
