CHRIS 180 Extends Holiday Joy to More Families & Youth

CHRIS 180 adds more families to annual Holiday Wish List program, provides in-person shopping for parents and caregivers

This year, CHRIS 180 is expanding its annual Holiday Wish List program to include more CHRIS 180 families and asking the Metro Atlanta community to help provide gifts through the organization’s wish lists.

CHRIS 180, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing trauma-informed mental health services for children, youth and families, is hoping to help more than 50 families provide gifts for their children on Christmas morning.  amilies are part of CHRIS 180’s community initiatives, including foster care, adoptions, housing, counseling and other support programs. These parents and caregivers will have a chance to shop for gifts from those purchased and donated to CHRIS 180.

With inflation hovering near forty-year highs, many families are struggling just to make ends meet. In this environment, providing Christmas gifts for kids is harder than it has been in years, with toy costs alone up to 10 percent higher than last year. This rising cost is also putting a strain on nonprofits that step in to fill the gap, making every community donation even more important.

“We’re excited that parents will get to handpick toys for their children and provide that full holiday experience to their kids no matter the circumstances,” said CHRIS 180’s Chief Development Officer, Elizabeth Goldberg. “Not only does this support our mission of providing a typical childhood experience to those we serve through our programs but it also provides a sense of dignity to the families who need support this holiday season.”

CHRIS 180 invites neighborhood groups, offices, families, community organizations and individuals to support this program by:

  • Shopping the Amazon Wish List. Gifts will be placed in a pop-up shop at CHRIS 180 where parents and caregivers will select gifts for their children before Christmas. Please note, the shop is only open to CHRIS 180 clients.
  • Make a monetary donation at org/donate.
  • Volunteer in the holiday gift shop December 19-21 at CHRIS 180’s main office in East Atlanta. There are a variety of volunteer needs during this time.
